Useful Tip # 1

Recyclable Containers - make sure all containers are clean and caps are removed. A simple rinse with warm water then air-drying is usually sufficient. This will reduce any odors and fruit flies until collection day or returned for refund (if applicable). Sorting your containers into acceptable streams makes it easier for you and the collectors.

Useful Tip # 2

Recyclable Paper - collapsing and tightly bundling paper products helps in transportation and storage of papers. Use a piece of natural twine, not tape, for bundling. Keep all paper dry, unsoiled, and off the floor to keep it from acting as a nest for critters.

Useful Tip # 3

Hazardous Wastes - many areas have depots that will accept household hazardous waste products. Such items include paint, batteries, compressed gas bottles, chemicals, etc. If you are in doubt about a material, do not put it in a regular collection stream until you know for sure.
